SCARLET UDAAN

A TOOLKIT TO

#ENDFGC

This toolkit is curated by Scarlet Udaan, a youth led global activist organization that aims to raise awareness around Female Genital Cutting (FGC) as part of their #EndFGC campaign.

What is FGC?

As per the World Health Organization (WHO) Female Genital Cutting (FGC) [also known as female genital mutilation/FGM] comprises of procedures that involve the partial or total removal of the external female genitalia, or other injury to the female genital organs for non-medical reasons. It is an extreme form of violence and discrimination against women, girls and non-binary individuals.

Who is this toolkit for?

This toolkit can be used by any individual, student/voluntary organization or institution that wants to raise awareness of FGC in their community. We hope that this toolkit will help people take the first step in engaging with an important, but often sensitive, topic.

About the toolkit:

This toolkit is free of cost and can be used on a voluntary basis. The toolkit contains 4 posts, 7 stories and 4 letter templates that can be used by organizations, institutions and individuals who want to engage in discussion, raise awareness and participate in advocacy aimed towards ending FGC by 2030. These stories and posts can be shared on Instagram or any other social media platform such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.

Follow the links below to access the templates!

FCC is a universal problem - 4 million girls are the risk of undergoing FGC every year.

If you use Scarlet Udaan’s toolkit to take action or spread awareness against FGC, please tag us on Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn so that we can share your work on our own social media! Please share Scarlet Udaan’s message and resources with other people, institutions and organizations so that we can collectively increase mobilization and achieve our aim of eradicating FGC by 2030.

We must have ZERO tolerance.

FGC infringes upon the basic human rights of females around the world. There is an urgency to act in solidarity and speak up against FGC to ensure that females across the world have access to basic human rights such as the right to bodily integrity, the right to freedom and equality. The United Nations Sustainable Development goals include the eradication of FGM/C by the year 2030. Help us to achieve this goal and stand up to FGC.
